Whether you are facing the decision of divorce or are a remarried believer, there are some things you should know. This article will help you to understand what the Holy Bible says about divorce.

The first thing you should know is that God hates divorce. Regardless of the cause for divorce, it is a sin.

1. God hates divorce

The Holy Bible teaches that marriage is a life-long commitment between two people. However, it also teaches that divorce is acceptable in certain cases, such as when a person commits adultery (Matthew 19:9) or when a marriage becomes abusive.

One of the main reasons that God hates divorce is that it destroys what He designed for marriage – a covenant. Throughout the Bible, marriage is seen as the foundation of all human relationships and as a means to rear children in understanding of the concept of covenant.

Divorce can be a dangerous thing because it can cause people to break their own covenant and create an unhealthy relationship. It can also cause people to become bitter towards their spouse and resentful of them, which is never good for anyone.

It can also create a false sense of security in people, causing them to think that they have a right to divorce and that it will be okay for them. This is not the case!

In Malachi 2:16, the King James version of the Bible says that "the LORD God hath hated putting away" or shalach. But this is a mistranslation. The correct Hebrew word for putting away is kerithuwth, which is the same word that we use to say “divorce”.

This is a very important point and should be stressed. This word is different from the word “shalach”, and if the translation is wrong, then it can cause people to be unable to trust God.

Another reason that God hates divorce is because it creates a new temptation in people. This temptation can be especially damaging to those who are single after a divorce. They will be tempted to have a sexual relationship with a new partner or to start a new family.

The key to avoiding these temptations is to avoid them in the first place. That is why divorce should be the last resort. Ideally, couples should seek counseling to help them work through their problems and rebuild a strong marriage.

2. God hates treachery

The Bible speaks of a couple of different ways that men could get rid of their wives without violating God’s plan for marriage. The first is a divorce that legally dissolves the marital relationship. The second is a remarriage to an unmarried woman who was already married.

In the passage Malachi 2 we read that a group of men got rid of their wives and then married pagan women. The prophet says that this is treachery to God and to the covenant.

God hates this type of treachery because it violates the covenant and brings pain to the wife who was put away. In addition, it is an affront to the heart of the man who abandoned his wife for no reason other than to take on an alien woman.

However, the problem is that many people who have a love for God and want to be obedient to him in this way are trapped in bad and abusive marriages that do not break apart by death or divorce. The result is that Christians are abused and their faith is damaged in the process of staying in these unbiblical marriages.

This is the situation that Jesus dealt with when he was teaching on this issue. He taught that whoever divorces his faithful wife for any reason except sexual immorality causes her to commit adultery. He then stated that if she were to remarry that man she would also be guilty of committing adultery.

The only exception to this principle is if the woman was sexually tempted and it was God who caused the temptation to happen. This is what Jesus means when He says that a divorced woman who remarries is guilty of committing adultery.

The verse is important to remember because it explains what God thinks about this act of treachery. It also explains why it is so painful to Him.

3. God hates divorce by those who get rid of their wives wrongly

The Holy Bible has nothing good to say about divorce, and it is an offense against the LORD. Moreover, it is an offense against every Christian, because it destroys the children of God who are born into the covenant through the blood of Christ.

The first reason why God hates divorce is that it is treachery. It is breaking the promises of marriage and destroying the marital bond by betraying the wife of your youth. This treachery is devastating, and it makes God angry.

This treachery is called the shalach, or the putting away of a woman for carnal and sinful reasons. This is what the Old Testament referred to as divorce, and it is the same thing that God hates today.

Another reason why the Bible hates divorce is that it is a betrayal of the children of God who are born into the marriage covenant through the blood of Jesus. These are precious to the covenant God of Judah/church, and they are in danger of being deprived from that relationship if their fathers divorce them.

In Malachi 2:14-16, the prophet condemns a grievous evil that is going on in Judah. It is a "putting away" that the people of Judah are doing, and it is a betrayal that they are dealing with treacherously.

When a man divorces his wife for any reason, the Holy Bible tells us that it is a betrayal. That means that the husband betrayed the child of God who was born into the covenant through the blood of Jesus. This betrayal is destructive, and it makes the covenant God of Israel/Judah angry.

This is why the New Testament says that those who abandon their duty to their spouse (either during or after a divorce) are considered unbelievers and worse than unbelievers. This also includes those who are not believers but who still have a marriage covenant with their spouse and then divorce and remarry.

4. God hates divorce by those who betray their wives

Divorce by those who betray their wives is one of the most grievous sins that the Lord condemns. It is not only a crime against God but also a crime against His creation, the covenant of marriage.

In fact, divorce by those who betray their wife is an even more serious and heinous offense than any other form of divorce. It is a form of treachery that destroys those it betrays, causing them great grief and sorrow.

This is why the prophet Malachi condemned this practice of divorce in his message to Judah. He spoke to them about it because it is so heinous that it causes God to be angry and to refuse their offerings with favor.

The most common reasons for divorce are abuse, abandonment, cruelty, desertion, addiction to alcohol or drugs, adultery, conviction of a crime, and insanity. These are all heinous crimes against human dignity that should not be condoned or tolerated in any way, shape, or form.

While we can never know why someone commits a heinous crime against their spouse, God does. He knows what is going on inside them and will use it to chastise and discipline them as he did with Judas.

He will also use it to punish those who support these heinous acts. These evil people are often members of the church who, by their support of such heinous acts, are endangering those they love and who trust them.

These are the very people who will be criticized and condemned by God as He seeks to restore His creation. He will also judge them for their treachery as He did with Judas, and He will destroy them in their lifetimes because they were unfaithful to the bride of Christ, His beloved wife.

The problem is that many Christians have decided to ignore this teaching by choosing to omit it from their own lives or by finding other, more permissible, reasons for divorce. They will tell themselves that they are doing good and right by adhering to this particular command, but they are actually doing worse than the people who ignore other things God teaches and are lawbreakers.
